Fargo Synopsis - This film is set in Fargo, North Dakota, and centres around Jerry Lundegaard a used car salesman who is in dire financial straits. In desperation he hatches a plan to have his wife kidnapped so that her wealthy father, who has never approved of Jerry, will pay the ransom and he will spilt it between himself and the kidnappers. Unfortunately the kidnappers he chooses are not ideally suited to the job in hand. Unluckily for Jerry, police inspector and housewife Marge Gunderson is sent to investigate, and her women's intuition begins to work overtime when she is interviewing Jerry. Can she solve the crime before things start to get even further out of hand.

Review of Fargo - The Coen brothers are genius. For them to make two films in their careers as good as Big Lebowski and Fargo is a testament to their genius. Again although their is an interesting plot driving along here, it is the dialogue and interaction between the characters that makes this film so unremittingly funny. The relationships between the characters are so well judged that they work absolutely delightfully. William H Macy, Frances McDormand and Steve Buscemi all give perfect portrayals of their quirky characters. I can't think of many films more humorous than this film.
The reasons I recommend Fargo are: 1. The sheer volume of hilarious dialogue that runs throughout the film. 2. The performances of all the cast but especially the brilliant William H Macy, Frances McDormand and Steve Buscemi . 3. The film is shot so beautifully against the pure white background of snow during the Dakota winter.
